Greetings from Finland.

Our fishing club had its annual fall fishing trip in the Gulf of Finland. The target species was northern pike. This time we were fishing an area unknown to all of us. In the beginning of the first day I decided to take a long run to a hot looking area. About halfway I saw a very nice looking spot and pulled the throttle back. Maybe it was a hunch or something, but I had to try that spot despite the original plan. I had two persons with me in my Scout 160 Sportfish (which I bought from Professional Boat Finland Oy in August). My buddies were throwing lures but I was fishing with a fly rod. At first, the spot seemed empty. We were just wondering why there were no pike at this spot, when this monster pike inhaled my fly close to the boat. From the very first moment we knew that I had a huge fish on. Luckily the fish was well hooked and I could land it without any problem. The pike weighted 12.35-kilos (27.5 pounds).
